The four-month “Score One for LA Kids” fundraising campaign came to an end Wednesday at Hollenbeck Middle School in Boyle Heights.
Wells Fargo along with FOX Sports West and the defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings presented a $150,000 check to the Partnership for LA Schools.
During the four-month period, Wells Fargo donated $1,000 to the Partnership for every goal scored by the Kings in the 2013 regular season. The funds raised help bring a digital learning experience to 16,000 students in 22 schools, through the Partnership’s Blended Learning Initiative. With this, PLAS hopes to raise awareness and support for technology in classrooms.
Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille, President of Business Operations for the LA Kings, along with LAUSD Board President Monica Garcia and other participants presented the donation check to Hollenbeck students.
With hockey fever at its peak, the Kings’ involvement in this fundraiser heightens the excitement of LA hockey fans. The Kings are still in contention for a second straight Stanley Cup after defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 in last night’s Western Conference Finals game at Staples Center. The Blackhawks lead the series 2-1, with game four tonight at Staples Center.
